Mikaele Oloa
He began dancing at a young age and is most known for his accomplishement of becoming the 2005 and 2006 World Fire Knife Dance Champion in Laie, HI. At the age of 15, he is still the youngest competitor to have ever won the title and has capabilities of dancing with up to four fire knives! This is an ability he has picked up at the age of 5 when he began training with his father,Isitolo, another competitive fire knife dancer. He has also performed exhibitions for many Polynesian events such as the "Heiva i Orlando," the "Hura Tahiti" in Garden Grove, CA, the Kaua'i Polynesian Festival as well as the Polynesian Cultural Center for their show, "Horizons."He currently assists Kalena's Polynesian 'Ohana in Polynesian dance instruction, choreography, music and is a lead in Tahitian music and composition. Technology impacted this, because without it he wouldn't been able to share his talent with others. I think this excellence is pretty cool, because not many people are able to fire dance with knifes.
